Cork: a game changer in sustainable flooring

COREtec® floors feature an attached cork underlay. Sourced from cork oak, which can be harvested every 10 years without harming the tree, cork is one of the most sustainable materials available. In addition, cork has numerous practical benefits: it provides a warm surface underfoot, absorbs sound, hides imperfections from underlying surfaces, and offers natural protection against mould.

At COREtec®, we believe in a world where things last. By creating durable floors that stand the test of time, we eliminate the need to replace your floor about every 10 or 15 years, significantly reducing the waste from discarded flooring. Our extended warranties underline this philosophy: lifetime warranty for residential use, 10-year warranty for commercial use.

Second Life Floors

COREtec® floors are not only made to last, they also enjoy multiple lives through our circular Second Life Floors programme. After picking up your old floor, we’ll bring it to a sheltered workshop. Here, it is thoroughly cleaned using special COREtec® organic products to restore it to a like-new condition. The reconditioned floor is resold as second-hand or donated to non-profit and youth organisations.

Floors for healthy interiors

COREtec® floors contribute to healthier living and working environments. Our floors meet the standards of many sustainable labels and certificates. The GREENGUARD GOLD certification, for example, is recognised as one of the most stringent in the world and goes beyond the A+ rating for indoor air quality. What’s more, our flooring emits low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), is asthma and allergy friendly, and free of phthalates and heavy metals such as lead.

Choose COREtec®, save trees

You might not be able to tell at first glance, but COREtec® floors are wood free. This means we don't have to cut down a single tree to make them. Even better: we support forest conservation initiatives worldwide. For example, Shaw Industries Group, which acquired COREtec® in 2016, contributes to The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign. Shaw has pledged a donation that will result in 1,250 trees being planted all around the world, including the US, Mexico, China and Columbia.
